Which Is More?

Numbers can be tricky when you're thinking about fractions.  We usually assume bigger numbers mean MORE.  With fractions, that isn't always the case.
Think about sharing a cookie with a friend.  You would each get one half.
Now imagine sharing that cookie with three people.  THREE is more than TWO so you would think that one third would be bigger because 3 is bigger than 2.
But, look!  When you break it into three pieces, they're smaller!
What if four friends share it?
Common Core State Standard
3.NF.A.3.D
The more times you cut the cookie, the smaller the pieces get!
