Three wholes can be represented as a fraction like this!

Think about when we talked about numerators and denominators.  The numerator (number on top) represents the number of shaded parts.  The denominator (bottom number) represents the number of equal parts in the whole.  Since the circle is not divided into equal parts, the denominator is 1.  There are three whole parts, so the numerator is 3.
