Allow students to use manipulatives to compare fractions.  Use fraction tiles, cookies, candy bars, or anything they can cut into equal pieces.  Ask them to compare parts of a whole.

Remember.....let them make a visual connection!  If they can hold it, they're more likely to remember it!

**Food is a great thing to break into equal parts because they are usually excited to eat it in the end.
